Sophisticated work Summer associates work on the same types of challenging client assignments as first- and second-year associates. You will have the opportunity to tailor your summer associate experience by letting us know early on what practice areas and pro bono matters you are interested in. Our program is designed to ensure that you receive a broad range of training and meet with a variety of lawyers over the course of the summer. Two-way feedback The lawyers you work with will evaluate you on your work quality, verbal and written communications skills, initiative and ability to work with others. Our open-door policy allows you to always get informal feedback. We will discuss your progress—and your questions or comments—in mid-summer and end-of-summer reviews. The First-Year Instruction The First-Year Instruction series (FYI) is a new program designed to support associates throughout their first year and aid in their professional development while working remote. It provides a foundation for future years and eases the transition into the second year and section placement. Nikita Ash, a first-year Litigation pool associate, said: “The FYI series has been a helpful way to stay grounded and to mark progress and learning as I go, helping to fight off any sense of estrangement. Having the opportunity to engage in shared learning with my peers periodically has been immeasurably useful in feeling both better connected and better prepared, shoring up skills and learning new strategies for setting good habits that will serve me long term.” More about our Summer Program Social events We want you to get to know our people as well as learn about our business. Each office plans a variety of social events, which are important to the program because they allow you to socialize and network with your fellow summer associates and our lawyers in a casual and relaxed environment. Some of this past summer’s highlights included scavenger hunts, cook-a-longs, charades night and cocktail and mocktail-making lessons.
